Wu girl

Outfit Info
Cardigan - Old Navy, Blouse - Jason Wu for Target, Skirt - J Crew (similar here on sale!),
Heels - Michael Kors, Watch - Target, Bracelet - Tiffany

Yes, it's true, I have some Jason Wu.

I'm a poet and I didn't even know it!

Turns out, the West Texas town that my mom lives in and I was visiting this weekend didn't even get Jason Wu at their Target (which I finally discovered Saturday night at 9:00PM).  So Christian was all on his own to buy clothes for me and he did an admirable job.  He fought off the crazed women who practically attacked him for buying multiple things and multiple sizes since he didn't know what would fit me and even a Target manager who rifled through his bags to see what he was buying (for the record, ladies at the Arboretum Target on Sunday morning and Target manager, WE RETURNED EVERYTHING THAT DIDN'T WORK AND AREN'T SELLING ANYTHING ON EBAY).

And he got me super cute stuff that I'm excited to wear, starting with this polka dotted blouse.  Navy plus dots?  Perfect for me.

Friday Lust

This week I tried to break away from my shopping go-to places (you know, J Crew, Anthro, Old Navy, Target) and find things at new places I don't normally go to.  It was a bit of a challenge (especially since I'd already found a ton of stuff to post on J Crew and Anthro before I had my genius idea) but I ended up with an 83% success rate and found some really cute things.  Now, to just order something...

Floral Sunrise Pleated Dress also from Ruche. Perfect for the long hot summer in Austin.

Bonheur White Shirt Dress from Shabby Apple.  Every summer I look for a white dress and I never get one.  I'm a little skeptical that this one isn't see through, though.  Just one of the many reasons why I end every summer with still no white dress.

I also need a new white blazer.  This one from French Connection looks great.

Logan High Heel City Sandal from Lands' End Canvas
I had to include this giraffe bracelet from J Crew because she would be such good friends with my giraffe necklace from J Crew!

Of course, what I'm really lusting after this week is the Jason Wu for Target collection.  Only 2 more days!  I need to keep going through the key outfit flashcards with Christian so he knows what to scoop up Sunday morning.

Don't you LOVE my new purse?

Outfit Info
Shirt - Old Navy, Skirt - Banana Republic, Shoes - Calvin Klein, Watch - Target
Bright and shiny new purse - Target (I can't find it online - grrr - but I swear it's at the store!)

1. I love this shirt with this skirt.  So much better than when I wore it with black pants.  It's all classicy and wonderful.

2. I love this purse.  It's such a bright pick-me-up and totally appropriate given the spring weather we had this week.  Also, I've had a ton of people tell me they love it.  That could be because I walk up to everyone I see and say "Don't you LOVE my new purse?".  Or because I've been running so late to work this week I've had to schlep my purse to every morning meeting because I didn't have time to drop it at my desk.  One of those is true.

Zoya Megan polish is still going strong.

Variation on a theme (polka dots)

Outfit Info
Skirt - Madewell, Blazer - Banana Republic (similar here on sale), Shirt - J Crew
Heels - Michael Kors, Necklace - J Crew Outlet, Bracelet - J Crew, Watch - Michael Kors

I saw this skirt when Christian and I were out doing last minute Christmas shopping.  Like the pain in the butt charming girl that I am, I instantly tweeted a picture of it saying I wanted it for Christmas.  Poor Christian ran right over to Madewell but he wasn't sure what size to get.  So it wasn't under the tree Christmas day.  But, we went the day after and it was still there so I snatched it up.  That story probably isn't too exciting to other people, right?  Oh well.

Given that it's been nowhere near winter temps here in Austin I busted it out today for the first time.  Wearing something new always gives me a little boost and that boost is even bigger than normal given how darn cute this skirt is.  The polka dots are just cheer inducing.

Black Tuesday

Outfit Info
Blouse - Old Navy, Pants - Gap (similar here), Shoes - Calvin Klein, Watch - Target
Nail polish - Zoya Megan (from Birchbox)

I'm not usually one for an all black ensemble so this is a little out of the box for me.

You know what's more exciting than wearing all black, though?  That tiny little baby bun that I was able to coerce my hair into this morning.  With fewer than a dozen bobby pins.

That's the Zoya polish I promised this morning to get a photo of.  On one thumb and ring finger I also layered on a coat of glitter polish from Sally Hansen.

I know - all black, a bun and a little glitter - I better pace myself with all this excitement.

January Birchbox

Somehow the last day of January snuck up on me and I realized I hadn't posted about my January Birchbox yet.  I'll admit, I wasn't blown over excited when I got this month's Birchbox.  It had concealer (which I never use), eye serum (which I never use), and another perfume (which, as I've mentioned, I'm wary of trying new perfumes generally).  But then I remembered that part of the reason I really wanted a Birchbox subscription was so that I would try new things.  So yay for new things!

Zoya nail polish in Megan: This was the item I was most excited about.  I have a huge nail polish obsession (not as severe as my Target obsession, but it's up there) and I had never tried Zoya.  The color came out great on my nails.  I'll try to get a shot of them before I switch colors; I tried with my iPhone but they weren't coming out well.

Juicy Couture perfume: I've sprayed this on a tissue and I think I like it but I haven't taken the plunge and worn it for a full day yet.  It has a sweet smell, which I like in small bursts, but I worry it'll trigger a headache if I have it on all day.  I'll keep you updated.  As a side note, this is my first Juicy Couture product ever.

Miracle Skin Transformer concealer: Despite having acne prone skin for basically 15 years I've never been a big concealer person.  Just one more thing to buy and put on in the morning and it didn't seem worth the money and effort.  I'm not sure that this concealer will cause me a 180 from my 15 years of habits but when I need it and remember to use it, it's awesome.

VMV Hypoallergenics Re-Everything: eye serum: I'm turning 30 this year.  I need to get on the intense eye cream/serum wagon and this is getting me started.

'wichcraft granola: Tasty!  Made me miss New York, though.

Seeing red

Outfit Info
Jeans - Old Navy, Shirt - Tucker for Target, Sweater - Old Navy
Earrings - Anthropologie

What's that?  My title's a little cliche and boring?  You're right.  But it's a Monday.

Moving onto talking about Target.  This shirt is one of those pieces that you've probably seen several (million) times if you like reading fashion blogs.  The shirt or it's sister dress with this print was evidently a popular purchase.  And a popular purchase that's still going strong several seasons (years?) after it was first released.

I'm excited for Jason Wu for Target not only because I met Jason at my former job and he was super cool but also because the pieces look like things I'll want to wear for years.  If the dresses are long enough for me, which is often an obstacle I run into with these lines and my 5'11" self.  Sunday morning I'll be in West Texas visiting my mom.  I'm on the fence as to whether this will be an advantage because fewer people will be at her Target (I went there a couple weeks after Missoni launched and there were still prime items in stock) or if it won't get the cool dresses/skirts I want because it's a smaller town.  To be sure all my bases are covered, I've convinced Christian to get up early Sunday morning to stand in light and fight with women at our local Target for clothes as well.  He's a good, good man.

Thank you for joining me for this session of Julie's Way Too Obsessed With Target, Especially When They Launch a Capsule Collection With a Designer She Loves.  I'll try to hold my obsession in the rest of the week but no promises.

Who else is excited for Jason Wu?  Any strategies?  If you're in Austin, do you want a picture of my husband so you'll know who the one guy is in there with all the ladies and that he's there for a good cause?
