Last look

Outfit Info
Dress - Thrifted from hunt.gather.style, Blazer - H&M, Shoes, Belt & Bracelet - J Crew

I finally got rid of those ridiculous roots this weekend but before I reveal the new do, let's take one final look at my not-so-stylish ombre.

I got this dress at the Hunt Gather Style event back in March and I'm excited that it has room to grow (as I grow!) over the next few weeks.

Over the weekend, in addition to getting my hair fixed, I also started my second trimester.  So far, it's meant I'm feeling a ton better than I have been for the past couple months so I'm excited to get back into my regular blogging schedule rather than the lying in bed moaning about how miserable I am schedule that I've been on.

PATCHES!

Outfit Info
Sweater - Old Navy, Blazer - H&M, Cords, Heels, Bracelet (now on sale), Necklace - J Crew (similar heels here)
In case you couldn't tell, I'm more than a little proud that we remembered to take pics of the lovely elbow patches on this comfy H&M blazer.

Unfortunately those patches seem to have an ill effect on me because I've been feeling a little under the weather since I wore them on Wednesday (thus the reason this post is delayed).

But, Texas Style Council starts tonight (woohoo!) so I'm hoping that a day of rest today will get me energized for an activity and fun-filled weekend with other bloggers like the awesome Alta from Vallaint Style who I got to meet up with on Sunday.

Ok, judging by that last overly long sentence, I need a little more rest before interacting with other people.  In between resting today, I'll also be picking out my second item for the Swap.com and LuLu's clothing swap tonight (the first item is an amazing Anthro dress that I'm finally admitting I'll never fit into again), polishing my nails a bright color to combat the rainy weather, and probably buying an umbrella.  Oh yeah, and I should probably figure out what I'm wearing...

Working without a net

Outfit Info
Skirt - Madewell, Shirt - H&M, Blazer - Banana Republic, Shoes - Stella Says Go

Or rather I'm working without a full-length mirror because it's one of the things still back at our old apartment that we need to bring over to the new house.  The new house whose front door I'm proudly standing in front of!

Not quite ready to show you inside yet because I didn't get as much unpacking and beautifying done this weekend as I thought I would, so for now you get the front door.  And our adorable welcome mat from Target that coordinates nicely with the front door (total coincidence).

Back to the whole no mirror thing.  Until we get it over here, Christian's acting as my outfit cuteness test.  I think he did a pretty good job this morning, right?  I should give him some real challenges, though, like wearing two different shoes and see if he catches it and calls me out on it.  Let the games begin!

Elbow patches

Outfit info
Blazer - H&M, Shirt - Anthropologie, Skirt - Thrifted from hunt.gather.style, Boots - Aldo
Necklaces - J Crew, Bracelets - J Crew, Watch - Michael Kors

One of my favorite parts of this blazer is the elbow patches.  Don't see them?  Yeah, that's because I forgot to have Christian take pictures of them.  Clearly, I'm ready for Friday and the weekend.  Please trust me that there are some cute elbow patches on that jacket that are almost the same color as the skirt.  The giraffe will back me up on this.

Monday blue

Outfit Info
Sweater - J Crew, Blouse - H&M, Pants - Gap, Pumps - Calvin Klein
Necklace - Anthropologie, Bracelet - Banana Republic, Watch - Target (reminds me of my grandma)

Like many fashion bloggers, I quite enjoyed watching the Golden Globes and the red carpet last night.

You would think that seeing lots of gorgeous dresses would inspire me to vamp it up but instead I went the entirely different direction: buttoned up with a dose of grandpa sweater.  In the right light, my shirt is a little see through, though.  That's vampy, right?

As a side note, can Michelle Williams please stop rocking her short hair?  It makes me want to chop mine off again and I'm really trying to resist that urge.

Green with envy

Outift Info
Blazer - Banana Republic, Shirt - Anthropologie, Skirt - Thrifted from hunt.gather.style
Shoes - Target, Bracelet - H&M, Watch - Michael Kors
This green skirt just makes me happy.  Like twirling around in our parking lot at 8:30 in the morning like a crazy person happy.  It also makes me happy because I get a ton of compliments on the color whenever I wear it.  Mostly from the cats.  They know a good skirt when they see one.  And generally see to destroy it.
Like my leather skirt that I adore, I got this green beauty at a hunt.gather.style sale during my birthday weekend in October.  I hope there's another one of those before spring/summer so I can stock up on awesome stuff at good prices *hint hint*.

Last day of vacay

Outfit Info
Sweater - Old Navy, Shirt - H&M, Jeans - Gap, Shoes - Target,
Watch - Target (I can't find it online but I just got it so check stores.  They also have other colors.)

To be totally honest, I spent most of my day in pajamas.  I'm not ashamed.  A whole lot of lazy reading in bed with two equally lazy cats was how I wanted to spend the last day of my 17 day long vacay.

But tonight we had dinner with some good friends downtown at Malaga so I had to put on something other than PJs.

Want to know a secret?  That shirt under the sweater is way too old to be wearing anymore and so it creeps up while I'm wearing it.  We went to Whole Foods after dinner to pick up some yogurt, etc. for my re-entry to the work world tomorrow and I kept tugging down my sweater all paranoid because I was sure I was flashing stomach to all 12 people who were there.

Is that going to get me to finally throw that shirt out?  No way!  I got good exercise with all that tugging.

Deer!

Outfit info
Sweater - Old Navy, Button up - H&M, Jeans - Gap
Deer Scarf! - Madewell, iPhone case - J Crew, Watch - Michael Kors, Bracelet - J Crew

Much to the chagrin of many of our Texas friends and neighbors, Christian and I have a love for deer.  There's a herd (?) of them that live in a business complex right next to our apartment area.  And we love driving by, saying hello, exchanges stories about the weather, how the family's doing, etc.  Yes, that probably makes us weird, but we're OK with that.  Anyway, my love for our deer made me jump for joy (slight exaggeration) when I saw this scarf at Madewell the day after Christmas and doubly on sale.  So I bought it and wore it even though it really hasn't been cold enough during the day here for two layers and a scarf.  Whatever.

I wonder if our deer will also enjoy my new sparkly iPhone case?

Office party (OMG look out - you're about to get eaten by that huge tree!)

Outfit Info
Jacket - Banana Republic (similar here), Sparkly tank - Old Navy, Skirt - Madewell,
Belt - J Crew (similar here), Wedges - J Crew, Clutch - H&M, Deer Ring - Target

My work office party was several weeks ago but I forgot to post the pics.  Whoops!  Since then I've fixed those ridiculous dark roots that I'm rockin' in these photos.  The tree is still large and looming.  The cats have almost beaten it into submission, though.
I love everything in this outfit and I wear most of the pieces a lot (as evidenced by the sparkly tank also making a showing when I went out to impress Mr. Renner).  The shoes are comfy, the ring is fun (although not a good piece if you're doing a lot of clothes trying on), and the skirt is one of my favorite purchases from the fall.  I like that even though the skirt is light the weather here's so mild that I can keep wearing it through winter.  And that clutch, I bought it 6 years ago at a Paris H&M, and it never fails.  My jacket is getting a little overworn, though, so I may need to investigate that similar one at J Crew soon.
