Co-ed

Outfit Info
Sweater - Banana Republic, Button up - Old Navy, Skirt - Thrifted from hunt.gather.style
Boots - Aldo, Earrings - Anthropologie, Ring - Target

Something about this outfit makes me feel like I should be back in college on my way to a literature seminar or something.  Not that I really attended literature seminars in college but whatever.

Anyway, I do have to admit that I'm very proud of myself today for several reasons.  1) I actually put together an outfit based off those earrings and it looks good.  A lot of times when I try to build an outfit around an accessory it comes off awkward.  2) I got dressed.  This is a big deal because I went running last night for the first time since Missoni for Target opened (and that was the first time I ran since junior high).  So, getting out of bed and into clothes (that look good with my earrings!) are huge accomplishments.

And why did I go running?  To prepare for Jason Wu for Target, of course.

Or, because of a stereotypical New Year's resolution I made to exercise.

Monday blue

Outfit Info
Sweater - J Crew, Blouse - H&M, Pants - Gap, Pumps - Calvin Klein
Necklace - Anthropologie, Bracelet - Banana Republic, Watch - Target (reminds me of my grandma)

Like many fashion bloggers, I quite enjoyed watching the Golden Globes and the red carpet last night.

You would think that seeing lots of gorgeous dresses would inspire me to vamp it up but instead I went the entirely different direction: buttoned up with a dose of grandpa sweater.  In the right light, my shirt is a little see through, though.  That's vampy, right?

As a side note, can Michelle Williams please stop rocking her short hair?  It makes me want to chop mine off again and I'm really trying to resist that urge.

Friday Snippets

Loving my new lamp and shade from Target.  Totally adds a great touch to our living room.  I can't find the lamp online but at our Target it was in the aisle with the "new/featured" home stuff.  And I snatched that baby right up as soon as I saw it.  Christian found the awesome shade with the design inside that shows through when the light is on.  The pitcher was a wedding gift and it comes from Anthropologie.

Good stuff

Giant turnips from Farmhouse Delivery.  Christian will be roasting these babies tonight.

At a park while we were out walking this week

Senor Kitty Paws is protective of the Scrabble

And, finally, a pic of Magnum P.I. so she can't accuse me of favoring her sister.  Don't tell her the photo I posted of her I took while there was something clearly on the lens of my iPhone camera.

Green with envy

Outift Info
Blazer - Banana Republic, Shirt - Anthropologie, Skirt - Thrifted from hunt.gather.style
Shoes - Target, Bracelet - H&M, Watch - Michael Kors
This green skirt just makes me happy.  Like twirling around in our parking lot at 8:30 in the morning like a crazy person happy.  It also makes me happy because I get a ton of compliments on the color whenever I wear it.  Mostly from the cats.  They know a good skirt when they see one.  And generally see to destroy it.
Like my leather skirt that I adore, I got this green beauty at a hunt.gather.style sale during my birthday weekend in October.  I hope there's another one of those before spring/summer so I can stock up on awesome stuff at good prices *hint hint*.

In the car? Really?

Outfit Info
Cardigan - Madewell, Top - Gap, Jeans - Old Navy,
Shoes - Stella Says Go, Necklace - Urban Outfitters

I was driving to work today and stopped at a red light next to a woman brushing her teeth.  In her car.

Brushing.

Her.

Teeth.

Inhercar.

I was in this outfit, driving along.  And she was in her car brushing her teeth.

I realize I shouldn't be so shocked since I used to excel at doing my makeup on the subway in New York.  But all I kept thinking as I drove away was - where is she going to spit?

I may have a thing for plaid

Outfit Info
Sweater - Old Navy, Shirt - J Crew, Skirt - J Crew
Heels - Michael Kors

I swear I'm wearing heels.  I know it just looks like my white white legs go on forever but there are shoes down there.  Those shoes are totally broken in yet so I can call my feet to testify that they are a little sore if you need outside verification that I am, in fact, wearing some adorable nude pumps.

This is what I get for wearing heels instead of just wearing my boots - people questioning whether or not I'm even wearing shoes at all.

I'm in awe

I tried to get Magnum PI to join in the fun but she wasn't really interested.  Yes, her name is Magnum PI.  She has a mustache.  I swear.

Outfit info
Sweater - Madewell, Jeans - Gap, Boots - Aldo, Watch - Michael Kors
Awesome Missoni blanket in the background - Target

I'm in total awe of people who work from home and get dressed in real clothes.  And do their hair and makeup.  And wear accessories.  Every day.  I stayed home to get some work done that required quiet concentration today and all I could manage was jeans, a sweater, boots and a watch.  And a watch doesn't even really count.  Plus, none of this even happened until the afternoon when I had somewhere I had to be.

So, work from homers who dress adorable, I applaud you.

Oh, you know who else I applaud?  My friend over at Points of Interest who gave me that awesome nail polish for Christmas.  Those nails are the only thing really elevating this look.  My Jouer lip gloss from Birchbox helps too.
